Superdrug Splurge: Beauty Must-Haves or Not?

So there are a few products that everyone seems to rave about on the blogosphere, they are all over YouTube and in favourites and you nod your head and remind yourself that you definitely need to check out those products but you never do. And why not? They are tried and tested by practically everybody but we all have a tendency to stick to what we know. So I decided to do a mini splurge at Superdrug and pick up three beauty favourites of almost everybody's. They are all drugstore products which basically means they are inexpensive and completely affordable in comparison to say Benefit or Armani. So please keep reading and I will tell you what I would usually use instead of these products and how these new products measure up.

THE PRODUCTS

L'Oreal Telescopic Mascara, now I heard about this product from Carli Bybel one of my favourite YouTubers and she perpetually has this mascara as part of every makeup tutorial even though she tends to wear false eyelashes a lot. I was a bit sceptical at first because the wand and comb itself is so slim you think it wouldn't be able to achieve anything let alone full thick curly lashes. However, it does work surprisingly well, it can clump but if you ensure that there is just a little product on your brush and wait till the mascara dries before you build coats you should get gorgeous lashes. I would usually use my Eyeko Mascara from Alexa Chung's Eye Do range or a duo mascara from Lash Em that I will talk about soon in a separate post. Mascara is my favourite beauty product so I have an enormous collection of them that would be shocking and disturbing I a regular human being so I have many choices. Other good inexpensive mascaras are Maybelline Falsies; L'Oreal Butterfly Effect; New Look Mascara by Giles and TopShop 3D Curve. Love them all. The Telescopic mascara does work well but I find it smudges easily so it looks like I have very messily applied liquid liner but as I mentioned this can be fixed by simply wiping the wand before application to ensure that there is very little product on the comb. £10.99

The next product is a concealer by Collection, a brand that is so cheap it makes me want to dance and cheer in celebration. The Lasting Perfection Concealer is drooled over by Tanya Burr, Lily Melrose, Zoella and probably a tonne of others that I have never even heard of. I only have one other concealer which is boing by benefit which I love, although it is about five times the price as this one. Basically to cut the story short I adore the Collection concealer so much, I got it in Warm Medium 3, which seems to blend into my skin nicely. I love this product because it is so multipurpose it's both brightening as well as concealing, you can use it under your eyes, on any redness, dark spots, acne, anything. It is great. However, I don't like the applicator as I feel like it doesn't let me access all the product and it only comes in four shades so that's not great but I think it is possible to make it work on most skin tones. It's a medium to high coverage concealer it looks like it would feel thick but it doesn't you only need a little and it covers a lot. At £4.99 I will definitely repurchase this.

Last but not least there is the Maybelline 24 Colour Tattoo in 65-Pink Gold. This was £4.19 and I know essiebutton loves the bronze shade in this collection and this range was definitely a beauty hit when it came out. I love the colour it really is a gorgeous dusky pink with gold undertones it looks like it might hae a slight shimmer that would catch the sunlight. I think it would look lovely as a wash across the eyelid but also as a great companion to the Naked 3 palette which is my go to palette these days. I believe cream shadows are a suitable replacement for primers and usually I would use my Too Faced Shadow Insurance to prime my lids or my Laura Mercier Shimmer Shadow Sticks. Sometimes I would put my Nyx Jumbo Pencil in Milk across the lid so any eyeshadows applied after would look more vibrant. As for this cream shadow, it feels light and works great as a base, I love this colour so would definitely repurchase this. I might have a look at some more shades, if you have any recommendations just let me know in the comments.

I apologise for the shadows visible in the pictures, I tried to minimise their presence as much as I could. I am back at home with my family in order to relax and get some revision done. Thank you so much for reading, I will try and post again as soon as possible. Have a beautiful day, all my links are below, and feel free to share your thoughts and opinions with me, love to you all.
