One Direction: FOUR

I am not ashamed to say I love One Direction, ever since they released the epic 'What Makes You Beautiful' their songs have always made me feel some kind of emotion. Zayn Malik's voice is like pure gold to me, and prior to this album 'Story of My Life' and 'Through The Dark' from their last album will always be firm winter anthems for me. They are seriously lovely songs, and because I like acoustic anything, here is an amazing cover of 'Little Things' by Madilyn Bailey, who always does excellent covers, and the acoustic version of 'Steal My Girl'. Carry on reading for my verdicts and audios on their new songs from Four, as well as my favourite lyrics from their album.

Now for the new album that was released yesterday: FOUR. In the deluxe version there are 16 tracks in total: Steal My Girl; Ready to Run; Where do Broken Hearts Go?; 18; Girl Almighty; Fool's Gold; Night Changes; No Control; Fireproof; Spaces; Stockholm Syndrome; Clouds; Change Your Ticket; Illusion; Once in a Lifetime; Act My Age. Of these my favourite tracks are 18, it was co-written by Ed Sheeran so naturally it's going to be amazing, Steal My Girl, Fireproof, and Night Changes.

Here is a breakdown of what to expect from the tracks, to help you figure out what to download if you're not willing to take the risk to purchase the whole album:

Steal My Girl - if you haven't heard this song already, where on earth have you been? Download it, it's a fun pop track with good vocals. Unfortunately the music video is completely ridiculous, it's only saving grace is that Danny DeVito (an utter legend) is in it for no real purpose, so I won't make you watch it. The chorus will have you singing with serious passion because Everybody wanna steal my girl, everybody wanna take her heart away, Couple billion in the whole wide world, well find another one cause she belongs to me.

Ready to Run - not as much of a fan of this track, I won't be downloading it, I like songs with lyrics I can relate to and that have a more ballad feel. This is quite fast-paced, which match the impatient lyrics. I love the introductory guitar because it reminds me a little of 'Through The Dark' but all resemblance ends there.
Cause I wanna be free and I wanna be young, I'll never look back now, I'm ready to run.

Where do Broken Hearts Go? - This song is easily addictive, after a few listens I was hooked, the lyrics are impossibly sweet and lovely. The perfect song to listen to when you're in the car, peeling down a dual carriage way. I have so many favourite lyrics it is hard to choose one.
So I built you a house from a broken home, Then I wrote you a song with the words you spoke, Yeah, it took me some time but I figured it out, How to fix up a heart that I let down.

18 - FAVOURITE TRACK ALERT! The opening verse had me immediately hooked, possibly because Zayn's voice is smooth as silk, especially when he sings 'So kiss me where I lay down, my hands press to your cheeks, A long way from the playgorund.' I love the whole mood of this song, it makes me think of first love when you're finally out of school and it means a whole lot more. Definite download for this beauty. Listen to it below and fall in love. It is impossible for Ed Sheeran to write a bad song, this further proves my theory.
And all I can do is say that these arms were made for holding you, I wanna love like you made me feel, when we were 18.

Girl Almighty - Not such a fan of this song, the lyrics are said in a strange way to make them rhyme I think. It's fast and I like the slow parts 'Am I the only, only believer'. I am fairly certain this is about seeing a really beautiful girl and just doing whatever you can to get her or keep her. It is a nice song, light hearted and easy to sing along to.
There's something happening here, I hope you feel what I am feeling too.

Fool's Gold - A slow song about being used by a lover, and being more in love with someone than they are with you. It is a slow ballad-like song, with good, smooth vocals but it took me a while to like it, you definitely have to listen to it completely before making a decision. I wasn't convinced until it had reached the end and now it has grown on me a whole lot. It's definitely very relateable if you have been in the same situation at all.
I am the first to admit that I am reckless, and I can't see two feet in front of me. And I know in my heart that you're just a moving part. And yeah I've let you use me from the day we first met.

Night Changes - love the vocals on this song and it makes me think about how transient things are, everything feels like it is moving too fast and as a twenty year old I can completely empathise with that feeling. Another slow song meant to be listened to, it might sound quite sad but it's not, it's about the world changing around you, but they will always be the same. Sweet.
Does it ever drive you crazy, Just how fast the night changes, Everything that you have ever dreamed of, Disappearing when you wake up.

No Control - this is not my type of song, I don't like the music very much, or the vocals, or the lyrics or anything. But listen to it and decide for yourself. It's about having no control when you're infatuated with someone and I guess just wanting to be with them all the time (physically mostly).
I could stay right here and burn in it all day.

Fireproof - completely adore this song, they sing about a rock solid relationship and isn't that what everyone ultimately wants.
Cause nobody knows you baby, the way I do, and nobody loves you baby the way I do.

Spaces - this song reminds me of 'California King Bed' and the uncertainty and distance in a relationship, where something is wrong and you can feel it but you're both afraid to address it. It's quite sad as it's about the end. I really like the chorus. And if you like the song I suggest 5SoS 'Amnesia', that's a great song as well.
The spaces between us, keep getting deeper, it's harder to reach her, Even though I've tried the spaces between us hold all our secrets and leaving us speechless and I don't know why. Who's gonna be the first to say goodbye?

Stockholm Syndrome - I don't like this song very much, it's using Stockholm Syndrome as a metaphor and I don't really think it works to be honest.
Baby look what you've done to me, you've got me tied down, Baby I'll never leave if you keep holding me this way.

Clouds - again not a great track for me, but you might like it. Slightly more rock feel, I find it harder to sing to and understand. So have a listen and decide for yourself.
Someday you're gonna see the things that I see, you're gonna want the air that I breathe, You're gonna wish you never left me.

Change Your Ticket - this reminds me of 'Stay' by Ne-Yo, a great song by the way. Wanting someone to stay 'a couple more days'. It is not my favourite song to be honest, I like the verses better than the chorus, although it is pretty catchy.
Don't play innocent I know what you meant when you said you'd come over. Aren't we past playing hard to get we did that when we were younger.

Illusion - is love an illusion? Well, that's the basis of this song and according to One Direction 'this is not an illusion, there is magic between you and me'. A typical, catchy, feel-good song about being in love with someone and promising that you won't break their heart. I think I am getting too jaded for these kind of songs. Sad but true.
Oh baby this is not an illusion, you really got me lifting off my feet. So tell me you believe in love, because it's not an illusion for me.

Once in a Lifetime - slow, serious song which is very short. The vocals in the verses are great, but I don't really get the lyrics or the tone so not one that's going in my playlist. I believe it's about being deeply in love with someone and feeling safe with them and like nothing can go wrong because you have each other, I think the sad tone is because they are singing about a past relationship, so it adds nostalgia and regret.
Once in a lifetime it's just right, and we are always safe. And not even the bad guys in the dark night could take it all away.

Act My Age - this sounds like an upbeat chant that reminds me of the songs they used to play on Heart Radio. I like the message of this song, we all have people that we'll always act the same around no matter if we were 17 or 70.
I won't act my age, no I won't act my age. No I'll still feel the same around you.

Thank you so much for reading, comment below telling me your favourite song for the album or any music suggestions you have for me. I love discovering new artists and music, whether it be someone who does covers like Madilyn Bailey or just new artists that are out there. Check out Raleigh Ritchie, his music is really original and great, different from all the other artists out there, an honest breath of fresh air. I love Bloodsport, Stay Inside, and Stronger than Ever. Follow my blog if you made it this far, it honestly means a lot to me. Have a wonderful day whatever you are doing.

Love
Kiran
