Take Your Time

I am so sorry that I haven't been posting lately, revision has just consumed me entirely. Here is a brilliant song for you all to listen to by Sam Hunt, it is really lovely. A quick update is that I am going to Budapest tomorrow, I will be back in England on Thursday and I'll post about my trip and my makeup and clothes that I took with me, I am so excited and thank you so much for your patience and support. If you have any posts that you would like me to do please mention them in the comments and I look forward to reading them.

"No-one has to call you baby, I don't have to call you mine."

Thank you so much for reading, have a lovely week. Don't forget to follow and check out my Instagram as I imagine I will be posting up pictures pretty regularly on there.

Dupe | In the Buff Lightly Toasted Palette

I have heard a lot about how the original Naked palette is a classic for a reason, but being the student I am I couldn't bring myself to shell out almost £40 for yet another neutral palette. Seriously, how many do I need? Fortunately, thanks to Pixiwoo I heard about this great dupe from W7 called In The Buff: Lighly Toasted. I found this for under £4 on Amazon! For a quick review, swatches and comparison to the Naked palette keep reading.

There are 12 shades just like the Naked Palette, the packaging is tin and a double-ended brush is provided. I will say the brush is not great, one side has the dome shamed applicator that everyone knows is utterly useless, however the other side is quite dainty and appropriate for highlighting under the brow bone, the inner corners or even adding colour to the lower lash line.

It is styled very similarly to the Naked palettes. The tin packaging does mean that it will not look as dirty over time. The Naked palettes has a velvet covering and although that looks stunning and feels incredibly at first, it will be ruined within the first few weeks of using it.

The lightest shadows are on the left and the increasingly darker shades are placed towards the right. Although I do think the last two should be swapped around, surely black is darker than grey? From left to right: Teddy Bear, Wonderland, Cracker, Happy, Lady Luck and Twister.

Here are the darker shades. From left to right we have: Di Di, Delilah, Magic, It's a Dream, Up in Smoke and Dawn.

Now for some swatches, here are the first five shades in the palette. These are the lightest. Teddy Bear is a beautiful highlight colour with some shimmer ans a satin finish. Wonderland is a brighter, sparklier version of Teddy Bear with pink undertones. Cracker is a cool toned matte brown. Happy is very similar to Wonderland but with a taupe undertone. Lady Luck is a matte mauve brown, this shade was the poorest quality in my opinion, not much pigmentation although it would work well as a transition colour in the crease. These shades are the least pigmented in the palette, the mattes ones especially are pretty lacklustre compared to Urban Decay shadows but you can still see them so they are better than some.

The next five shades are swatched below. Twister is a beautiful deep shimmery gold. Di Di is a strongly pigmented dark olive shade with lots of shimmer. Delilah is a dark purple with multi-coloured shimmer, again very good pigmentation. Magic is a pinkish purple, again with shimmer. Its a dream is a silvery deep purple shimmer. These are the best eyeshadows in the palette in terms of colour and quality, I love the interesting shades and they have great colour payoff.

The final two shades are Up in Smoke (a black with multi-coloured glitter) and Dawn (a medium grey with mulit-coloured shimmer). These two shades are not as pigmented as the last five but are definitely more pigmented than the first five, they would do in a pinch if you wanted a smoky eye.

Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by this palette, I can see myself using all the shades and for this price you can't really complain. Click here to get it for £3.80 as well. The paler colours are wonderful for highlighting and there are some gorgeous rich earthy tones that could be used during the day and at night. I will be using this pretty regularly. Thank you so much for reading, I hope you enjoyed this post don't forget to follow and leave me a comment on what palette you have your eyes on. Take care.

Dreams | Life of the Party

Any acoustic Shawn Mendes song is going to be featured on my blog. He recently released an acoustic version of Life of the Party and needless to say I am utterly in love with it. I love acoustic covers and Shawn's voice is so unique. It's a great song and you can check it out below.

"Cause we don't have the time to be sorry, so baby be the life of the party"
"Take your shot it might be scary, hearts are gonna break"

I truly love this song, it's quite encouraging. Chase your dreams, guys, what is the worst that could happen? In the spirit of this song, let me know in the comments what your dream is, it can be absolutely anything. I don't care if you think it's silly, I would love to know. My dream is to be a Clinical Psychologist, a goal I am working towards right now. My next dream is to go on a yacht, there I said it, now tell me yours down below.

Thank you for readng, let me know if you like this song. I apologise for not posting as regularly as I would like, but my entire life is consumed with revision. I will have a post coming up shortly with some revision tips and I just got a new foundation so keep your eyes peeled for a First Impressions, I am pretty excited about it. Thank you so much, don't forget to leave me a comment. It is so lovely to read them, have a brilliant weekend. Take care,

Meghan Trainor Deluxe Album Review

It was only a matter of time before I caved and listened to the entire album, so here is a track-by-track review, with the meaning behind the song (if I can figure it out) and my favourite lyrics. As well as, of course, my verdict and the audio track so you can have a listen for yourself.

I won't go into too much detail on the already well-known songs like 'All About That Bass', 'Lips Are Movin' and 'Dear Future Husband', suffice to say I like them all and you should check them out. And I already did a post on the songs '3am', 'What If I', 'Title' and 'Like I'm Gonna Lose You' you can see that here, they're all brilliant. Without further ado, let's crack on we still have 6 other songs to put to the test. I'll leave a complete track listing at the end by the way.

Close Your Eyes
This is quite a lovely song which appears to me to be about not trying to fit in anymore because you realise that in the end it's what is in your heart that matters. How you look isn't what defines your beauty and you shouldn't change to fit in. It's a positive message which is sometimes rare to find in mainstream music currently, so I am all for this song, especially as she has a mostly young fanbase. I think this delivers a better message than 'All About That Bass', unfortunately it's not as catchy.
"I don't care what they see, no I'm not listening because I know I'm beautiful. So close your eyes."
Verdict: 4/5

Bang Dem Sticks
I don't like this song at all. It's essentially about her attraction for drummers which I don't share so I can't really relate. Also the way she talks over the track in parts is reminiscent of Britney Spears in her awkwardly slutty phase (I say this with love by the way, I have mad respect for Britney Spears).
Verdict: 1/5

This is quite catchy and is obviously about the walk of shame some of us might experience, I feel like  it glorifies it a little, but hey we've all had to walk in the clothes we were wearing the night before the following morning for some reason or other (sometimes it is totally innocent but that doesn't stop you from being on the receiving end of catcalls and dirty looks - fuck you society). It does imply that you shouldn't judge and I like that.
"Don't act like you haven't been there, 7am with the bed head, it's the walkashame."
Verdict: 2.5/5

No Good For You
I think this song is directed at a friend, and she's telling her that she can do better than the guy she is currently with. He is no good for her and she is too good for him and man I can relate. If you can't relate this is exactly the song I would play for Amy from Taking New York. She can do a million times better than Jamie.
"And sure he's worth a lot of gold but you're better than you know".
Verdict: 4.5/5

Mr Almost (ft Shy Carter)
Again similar to the last song, but this one is self-directed. And it reinforces the idea that you shouldn't rush and you shouldn't settle and just because a guy is great on paper doesn't mean he is Mr Right he might actually be Mr Almost.
"Hey you ain't the perfect match for me, but you were so close you were my Mr Almost".
Verdict: 3.5/5

My Selfish Heart
This is a change of pace, this song is surprisingly about her not being right for him this time. She wants to chase her dream so she can't give their relationship the attention it needs. She chose her dreams over love, although she still has feelings for this guy. It's quite cute,
"Because I'm not what you need, but I'm gonna miss you so much. I'm too focused on this dream."
Verdict: 3/5

Complete Track Listing
1. All About That Bass
3. Close Your Eyes
4. 3 am
6. Bang Dem Stick
7. Walkashame
8. Title
9. What If I
10. Lips Are Movin
11. No Good For You
12. Mr Almost (ft. Shy Carter)
13. My Selfish Heart

What is your favourite song from the Meghan Trainor album, I think mine is still 'Like I'm Gonna Lose You' featuring John Legend and 'Dear Future Husband'. Here's the official video for the latter.

Thank you so much for reading, I hope you enjoyed this post. Don't forget to follow and share your thoughts with me in a comment below. I really appreciate it, have a wonderful day. Take care.

How To Master The Art of Layering

Layering is no easy task and unfortunately in England it is a definite necessity. When an outfit is layered poorly, clothes can appear ill-fitting and sloppy. A well-layered look can be achieved through the pairing of a simple, lightweight top with a bold pull-over. Complete the look with a jacket or coat in a basic colour and you will be ready to head out the door. Coats in camel, grey and black never go out of style, and for the spring months an adorable pastel coat will be a sure staple year after a year. Incorporating jewellery and accessories give an added polish to the ensemble, but are not necessary. Accessorising can be tricky especially when you are pushed for a time, a good watch and a few rose gold rings will look perfect with any outfit.

If selecting pieces from your wardrobe is too much work here are some ready-made layering ideas just for you. For a more daring look, trying layering dresses with patterned sweaters or go preppy with an oxford shirt and blazer with a pair of coloured jeans (very Spencer Hastings). My favourite way to layer is with a collared shirt underneath a jumper paired with a skort and some opaque tights; skinny jeans or patterned treggings. Whatever clothing combination you prefer you can use the image below to help you generate some fresh ideas.

Thank you for reading, let me know what your favourite way to layer is in the comments. Jumpers, collared shirts, super cosy tights and skater dresses are a must for me. Have a lovely Easter weekend. Take care.

March Favourites

I don't have that many favourites this month but here they are, starting with a few beauty items and then TV shows, a book and some music. I want to keep it quite short as I know monthly favourites can tend to drag on a bit. All the prices and links are included, thank you so much for reading. Let me know what you have been loving in the comments as I am always looking to try out new things.

Collection is one of the best drugstore cosmetics company in the UK, their concealer is a firm cult beauty product as well as their liquid eyeliner. It is one of the cheapest drugstore brands and yet the products can be of such great quality, and of course these velvety matte lip creams do not disappoint. They are moisturising, pigmented and come in a range of  stunning shades, my favourite is Angel Delight which is a muted pink shade. Plus, they smell like vanilla. They aren't very long wearing, but they do feel like absolutely nothing on the lips.

I actually did a review with swatches on this gorgeous palette. The shadows come in an array of unique, pigmented shades that blend easily and work exceptionally well together. It has definitely been my go-to palette, and the beautiful colours are perfect for spring. For the full review click here.

I have heard good things about this, and again I was uncertain but it is surprisingly good. It has a great little wand that allows good control and precision with application. Great strong black, definitely something to check out for beginners still getting to grips with liquid eyeliner. I wore it for my Psychology Ball and it took less than five minutes to apply, which is an achievement in itself. I also really like the Collection felt tip liner, but the problem with buying those liners from Superdrug or Boots is that they dry out really quickly because everyone tests them out on their hand, so you're paying for half the product you think you're getting. Fortunately, the NYC eyeliner is not only cheap but it is wrapped in plastic so you get the full amount of product.

My sister actually owns this, in all honesty I don't tend to mess with my brows as I don't particularly care for eyebrows that much, as long as they are there I am good. But, out of curiosity I tried this product and so far I like it, it doesn't do much it just makes your brows look a little more polished and groomed which is nice. I think it is a good dupe for Benefit's Gimme Brow gel.

Again, I think this is a great dupe for the Benefit Instant Brow Pencil which I also have in the shade Deep. I am not a great fan of the Benefit pencil as it's slightly grey in tone which is a bit bizarre. The Maybelline Master Shape has all the same qualities, such as the spooly and the pencil but the shade is better matched to my brows. I have it in the shade Soft Brown.

After reading a tip in a beauty book, I decided to purchase some Petroleum Jelly from my local Poundland and slather my feet in it before donning a pair of cotton socks. I did this for about a week, every night, and this was a month ago. Even now, my feet feel so much softer and less dry than they did before. I even put a little bit on my legs, and they feel baby smooth the next day. So this is an inexpensive at-home beauty fix.

This has been one of my favourite shows since it started, I watched the last episode today and it kind of basically broke my heart. I cried, I'm not ashamed, but I cannot explain how good this show is. For someone who watched this throughout my own high school experience, I can honestly say I feel like a much better person because of it. It's funny and lighthearted and downright stupid and ridiculous at times, but I think I will always love it. My favourite characters are Quinn and Kurt.

My sister loves this show and I have watched it on and off for a few years, but now I am on the penultimate season and thoroughly hooked. It's just so dramatic and funny and everyone is so hilarious. My favourite cast member alternates but is probably Pheadra at the minute. Although, Kenya is definitely the craziest and most entertaining.

< BOOK >

I read this book last year but I just wrote a review on it which you can see here. It's unlike anything I have ever read before, it truly is a book that just sucks you in to a completely different universe. I loved it, it's beautifully written and I cannot wait to read it again.

I heard the lovely song Unbelievable play in a pub the other day and it took me right back to my childhood when Craig David was playing incessantly in everyone's house. His songs truly are timeless, and honestly great chill-out music. My favourites are I'm Sorry, Unbelievable, Can You Fill Me In and of course the classic Seven Days, which you can watch below.

<  GAMES >

This is free to download from the app store and it is essentially a trivia game. Great game to play when you need to kill a bit of time, plus you learn some new things too. You never know when a piece of trivia can come in handy.

I have always been a fan of this gameshow, I thoroughly enjoy playing along with it when it's on the tele. But now you can play whenever you want and it's a lot of fun, you can play against someone and you can play by yourself too. It's free from the app store as well. Let me know if you like any of these games too.

Thank you so much for reading, I hope you liked this post. If you watch any of the shows I mentioned let me know what you think of them and of course share your favourites in the comments below. Don't forget to follow and take care.

Nobody Love ♥

I have always been a big fan of Tori Kelly, ever since one of my friends at university introduced me to her amazing covers (click here to see her Taylor Swift Medley). Unfortunately, I don't find her original music as addictive as her soulful covers, although I do love the song 'Dear No-One'. But her most recent release 'Nobody Love' definitely deserves a listen. You can see the opening lyrics below, and please keep reading for the adorable snapchat lyric video as well as the official video.

Her latest song is called 'Nobody Love' and the official music video is already up on her Vevo channel. However, there is a SnapChat lyric video that is infinitely cuter and you can check that out below.

You can't deny that she has amazing hair and an undeniably awesome voice. This song is fun and vibrant and yet still manages to display her impressive vocal range. You can see the official video below.

Thank you so much for reading, don't forget to follow by email or on bloglovin, it would mean a lot to me. Please share your thoughts and current favourite songs in the comment below. Take care.
