Music For Mondays

It's Monday again, which is a good thing, because it means you're alive to see it so stop complaining get some tea and listen to some awesome music to start your day off right. Plus, we got an extra hour's sleep over the weekend so it is not all doom and gloom. The song for this week's Music For Mondays is a cover/mash-up by the stunningly beautiful Louisa Wendorff. I mentioned her before on my channel when she created an amazing mash up of two Taylor Sift songs (Style/Blank Space) with Devin Dawson, and she has done it again but this time all by herself. She did a cover and mash up of Goodbye/Believe from Mumford and Sons and Who is Fancy respectively. I haven't heard any of the original tracks but hers is something special. You can watch her official video below.

Isn't it perfect? Tell me what you think of the song below, and please share your favourite songs with me. I want to get quite a few posts up this week, I think Wednesday I'll upload some Halloween ideas and video tutorials, and I am also going to schedule some posts for over the weekend as I am in London. Thank you so much for reading, may your Monday be truly great. Take care.

Winter Warmers | Shearling Jackets

Everyone knows winter is the time that even the most inept people can look stylish as hell because all you need is a kickass coat. Fortunately, Missguided, the online shop, have just released some gorgeous shearling coats to keep you warm. Check out 4 of my favourites below with links and pictures below.

Pilot style jacket with a silver zip fastening, camel colour and the jackpot: pockets with zips. There is nothing I hate more than a coat with fake pockets, apart from fuck boys and people who appropriate Bollywood dancing in their shitty music videos. This jacket is my ultimate favourite, I hope they release it in a tan brown too.

An exact replica of the jacket above, except in black. This one is for all of you who "would buy it if it was in black". The only item that I don't own in black is a coat, simply because then I would look as depressing as I feel. This jacket gives me mild Sons of Anarchy vibes.

Long, pale and pretty, another fabulous coat to keep warm in. I love the shearling detail on the cuffs and lapels. Beautiful neutral for cold months.

The least expensive jacket with shearling detail, a waterfall design and a rich tan colour. I wish this was in a pilot jacket style instead because I think the colour contrast is very on point. Lovely casual jacket which you could pair with a pale dress and boots for a night out.

Shearling just reminds me of snow, let me know your favourite coats in the comments below. Don't forget to follow and comment. Take care.

Music For Mondays

Hello, I thought it would be a great time to bring back Music For Mondays. Everyone knows Mondays kinda sorta suck because it means the end of the weekend so why not listen to some awesome music that will make you instantly feel better? This week's feature is Meghan Trainor's new song I'm Better When I'm Dancin. Watch the video below.

She looks amazing in this video, I love every single one of her looks. She wrote this song when she was sick on tour and had to cancel some tour dates. Therefore, I think it is the perfect song for reminding yourself of happier times. Mondays, just like all other bad days, have to come to an end eventually.

One Setting Brush | Many Uses

The Real Techniques Setting Brush (£8) is one of my favourite brushes because it is affordable, super soft and high quality, and, last but not least, can be used for so many different things. The possibilities are endless, so I wanted to write this post to share with you my favourite ways of using this wonderful brush.

It is a setting brush, so the most obvious use is to powder the skin with this pink tool. The great thing about this brush is its size; it is not too small or too big. Therefore, you can apply the perfect amount of powder in the areas that actually require powdering (usually the t-zone) this prevents cake face and everyone with a makeup heart knows that building in thin layers increases the longevity and appearance of your makeup. I use this for applying powder to set areas I have concealed or alternatively for dusting away excess powder, for instance if I am baking.

Another regular use for this brush is to apply blush with it. I watched a great video from Wayne Goss on the correct way to apply blush (see below). The man is a makeup genius. Following his guidelines, and you can see his video below, I gently swirl this on the area I want to be perfectly flushes. Again giving me the perfect amount of control, I have a tendency to use quite pigmented blushes so this stops me from making any clown impersonations.

On another area of the cheeks, the setting brush performs gorgeously at adding a soft highlight to the tops of the cheeks. It just sits on top of the cheekbone effortlessly, a few quick swipes and you look angelic. This was the first way I used this brush as I wasn't a fan of powdering with small brushes when I first purchased this brush, now I am a convert. This brush is a winner for all cheek activity, in my opinion.

Finally, and my favourite way of using this brush, eyeshadow. This brush is so big and fluffy it blows the standard blending eyeshadow brushes, like your MAC 217 or Sigma E40 right out of the water. This diffuses the eyeshadow seamlessly, great for quick makeup days when you want a wash of colour on the lid or for days when blending your smoky eye out is proving really difficult. A quick tip is to apply a tiny bit of your foundation powder onto the setting brush and then in circular motions focus on the edges of your smoky eye and in seconds you'll have a perfectly blown out look. I love this trick; it works wonders.

What is your current favourite makeup brush?

Thank you so much for reading, I hope you enjoyed this post and learnt something cool. Don't forget to leave a comment and follow my blog it means a lot to me. Take care.

Current Music Obsessions

I haven't written a music post in so long, I had forgotten how much I love sharing what I am listening to with you guys. You know I always love a good recommendation, so don't be shy and share your favourite tracks with me in the comments. I've been all over the place lately with my mood, and something that never fails me is a song I can get lost in. Instantly, this lifts me out of my pity pit and back into the real world where the things that are getting me down are out of my control so I just need to smile and move the fuck on.

So to share with you my top 3 songs that always put me in a bloody good mood:

I'm not ashamed, love a little Kanye and this song makes me feel like a badass bitch. I get so into it when I'm singing that I don't even register when people are trying to talk to me and that is how I plan to live my life. Can't see the haterz [lol as if I have haterz haha].

I went to see the awesome James Bay last Thursday and I hadn't heard this song of his until he performed it in front of me and it was an energising perfect song that encourages you not to be fake. Don't be fake, just be you.

I know a few people who are not fans of this song but Macklemore will always have a place in my heart because his voice just takes me back to hanging out in Smack in my freshers with my housemates and pretending to fan money. Also the lines:
Going 38 man, chill the fuck out
Mow your damn lawn and sit the hell down
Makes me laugh. A lot.

What's your favourite song when you are in a bad mood?

Thank you for reading. Love you long time. Take care.

Wings and Things

Yes, this fight is still going strong.  If you follow me on Instagram you will know I recently attended a James Bay concert (there will be a post about this very soon) and on this fateful day I decided to rock some eyeliner. Newsflash: it is still very difficult. Now, I wear glasses and to apply eyeliner they have to be off, furthermore if I do not wish to stab myself in the eye and wear contacts it means I am basically applying eyeliner slightly less disadvantaged than a blind person. Because my eyesight is next level bad, it really is. My weapon of choice was the Eyeko Eye Do eyeliner (£15) in collaboration with Alexa Chung, and I just wanted to talk you through some tips. My current skills are far from honed but with practice everyone can be perfect.

If I am using liquid eyeliner then I want a wing, I want beautiful wings of symmetry. Here are my tips:

1. Always do the eyes first. Especially when you want to do any eyeliner or a dramatic eye. This a golden rule.
2. Test your eyeliner on the back of your hand so you can be sure it hasn't dried out.
3. If you are visually challenged you need a magnifying mirror and you need to be mm away from it. I mean you want to see your breath fog up the glass.
4. You can easily use some sellotape or sticky tape to map out your wing. Just cut a piece off, apply it a few times to the back of your hand so it loses some of its industrial strength stickiness and then place it at the outside corner of your eye in a diagonal line towards the end of your brow. If you fill in or extend your brows do this first and then map out the line according to your finished brow.
5. You can use a black eyeshadow and an angled brush to sketch it out or a kohl/pencil eyeliner if you find these less scary to work with.
6. Always keep your eyes open when drawing the wings, so you know how they will appear to others.
7. Just go for it, with or without the sticky tape, just draw that diagonal line and then carefully draw across the upper lash line.
8. Be patient.
9. Keep makeup wipes and eye makeup remover with cotton buds handy.
10. Using black eyeshadow on a thin angled brush you can always go over it so it looks smoother and better.
11. You can also use concealer to clean the edges as well.
12. Don't forget to take the sticky tape off and pat yourself on the back, because the struggle is real.

Above you can see my fuzzy attempt at a wing, remember practice is key: don't give up and don't lose heart; you will get it eventually. Thank you so much for reading, I hop you enjoyed this post and found it helpful. If you would like a separate post about my favourite eyeliners let me know in the comments below. Take care.

Blog Award

The beautiful Priya from LashesLifeLipstick nominated my tiny little blog for an award, which just fills my cold, dead heart with endless amounts of joy. The award, in case you're wondering, is called the Liebster Award and it requires nominees to follow some rules which are:

  • Make a post thanking and linking the person who nominated you. THANK YOU, PRIYA!
  • Include the Liebster Award sticker in your post.
  • Nominate 10 other bloggers who you believe deserve this award, and let them know they have been nominated by commenting on one of their posts. {I have done this at the end of this post}
  • Answer the 10 questions asked to you by the person who nominated you and make ten questions of your own for your nominees. {The 10 questions are right at the end! Don't forget to answer them!}
  • Lastly, copy these rules in the post!

1. If you had to choose between only doing either your hair or makeup, which would you choose?
Easy - makeup. I do nothing to my hair anyway because it is too long and annoying to beat into submission.

2. What's your favourite fragrance?
My favourite fragrance is Calvin Klein CKIN2U, it is so light and fresh; perfect for day and night.

3. What made you start blogging?
I just really love writing. I started blogging in my first year at university on a completely different blog. I had a lot of time on my hands and was really unsure about my future path and it was simply a way of helping me figure out life. I quickly developed a passion for makeup and beauty after avidly watching YouTube tutorials on the internet. I learnt so much  so fast that I thought it would be cool to share my knowledge with others.

4. If you were shipped off to a desert island and could only take three products with you what would they be and why?
Makeup wipes are a travel essential. Something with a high SPF and my Bare Minerals Ready to Go kit, so I can have the perfect base.

5. How do you like to unwind?
I can unwind in many ways, having a bath, listening to music or reading are usually my go-to ways. Sometime, I like to switch off and just watch a few episodes of Big Bang Theory, The Simpsons or  Modern Family. It helps me to stop thinking about my life.

6. What's your favourite season and why?
I love elements of all the seasons, it used to be Spring. I would always get really excited when I was at school and the weather was suddenly warm enough for me to sit outside and read my favourite book. Now, I think it's Autumn because I love Halloween and the build-up to Christmas (not to mention the Holiday Palettes) and I am an avid fan of oversized jumpers and cute ankle boots.

7. Marmite - Love or Hate?
Hate. Detest. Despise.

8. Your three favourite places in the world?
Villa Borghese in Rome was simply stunning, Rome in itself was one of the most memorable places I think I  will ever visit; it is unforgettable. Mykonos was beautiful as well. It is sad, but the last one has to be my bed and my home. I can get restless very easily, but the home is where the heart is.

9. How long does it take you to get ready in the morning?
I am usually running late so honestly no less than five-ten minutes. I don't have the luxury of spending hours getting ready, however if it is in the afternoon it will usually take me about fifteen minutes as I'll spend a little more time choosing an outfit and blending my eyeshadow. I love me some eyeshadow.

10. What makes you giggle like a schoolgirl?
Archer. Best TV show ever.

I hope you enjoyed that, the ten bloggers I would like to nominate are:

And here are your 10 questions:

1. Which celebrity's makeup do you rate the most?
2. If you could only wear one foundation for the rest of your life which one would it be and why (include the shade if you can)?
3. What is your favourite TV series?
4. What song is your favourite song right now, and why?
5. What is your least favourite makeup trend?
6. What is your biggest pet peeve?
7. If you could talk to a younger version of yourself what advice would you give?
8. Name three things you can't live without.
9. Do you put kisses at the end of your texts?
10. If you could only have one solid colour on your nails for the rest of your life what would it be, if you have a specific polish in mind please state?

Thank you so much for reading, this has me so excited. Thank you Priya for the nomination, check out her blog HERE. I will get busy tomorrow commenting on all of my nominations' posts. Have a beautiful week. Take care.
