Makeup Revolution have once again taken a cult beauty item (contour sticks) and made them unbelievably affordable. You can buy both the Contour and Highlight Stick together for just £6. This only an introductory offer and I believe following this it will be £5 for each stick, which could work out better for you if you are only interested in one of the two items. Either way, it is incredible value and would make a great stocking filler for any makeup lover out there in your life.
The Highlight Stick reminds me of Benefit's Watts Up Cream Highlighter (£24.50), and of course MR are famous for their dupes of high end products. Personally, I prefer powder highlights, I think they sit better on my skin and look a little more natural, but for an intense glow you can use a cream highlight like the Highlight Stick from Makeup Revolution and then layer a powder highlight on top. This will help it last longer as well as make it look like you are simply beaming from within, like a Christmas angel. This is a trick that Kady, from Lustre Lux, uses, she usually layers Laura Geller in Gilded Honey (£21) over Benefit's Watts Up (.
The Sculpt Stick, on the other hand, doesn't have any shimmer or sheen to it. It is a matte dark brown that looks quite intense in colour, but as always the secret is blending. You could pick up the product with a brush if you feel more comfortable or use the circular edge to carve out your cheekbones with precision. I think it is quite a good colour for its purpose as it will be suitable for a lot of different skin tones, including mine. If you're quite fair, I would skip this product as I doubt you will get much use out of it. Instead the Barry M Chisel Cheeks Contour Kit (£6.50) is perfect for fair skin.
Other brands like Clinique, NYX, Illamasqua and Smashbox all have their own contour and highlight sticks. It would be interesting to see how they compare, but these are by far the cheapest. Let me know what you think below? Would you buy them or use them? How do you feel about contouring and what are your favourite products to sculpt out your cheeks? Thank you so much for reading, the images used were by a girl called trihia on Instagram, I love her account so go check it out. All her captions are in Spanish, but I feel I can guess what she is saying anyway. Take care.
