March Favourites and Fails

It's the end of March. Holy shit snacks, because YES ARCHER IS BACK ON! If you don't know what I am talking about, you should it's only the best TV show ever, ignore me and let's jump into my favourites and fails of this past month, most of which you can see above, but my photography skills just aren't that sick, so I have a few more than what you see spread out before you. As always links and prices are included and I encourage you to share your favourites with me as well in the comments. I am anxious to find some good skincare as I am still chopping and changing mine.

Carli Bybel x BH Cosmetics 14 Colour Eyeshadow and Highlight Palette ($12.50) Is it just me or are product names just getting ridiculously long now? This palette is something I have been coveting for yonks, as soon as Carli mentioned it on her channel. I wasn't aware BH Cosmetics ship to the UK, but they definitely do and for $5 extra you can't quibble. The palette arrived in no time at all, in perfect condition and I am very impressed with the colours and the pigmentation. At first glance, a lot of the shades look similar but they really aren't. Perfect neutral palette, the eyeshadows and highlight shades are all gorgeous. I wish she had more tutorials up on her channel.

L'Oreal Infallible Matte Foundation (£8) A foundation I stopped using for a while but recently fell back in like with. I don't love it because the coverage is still underwhelming for me and the shade match is not perfect, a darker shade would be ideal. I am in the shade Honey which is the darkest shade I can find in the UK worryingly, but I can make it work. I like it because it is matte which is my preferred finish, blends easily, lasts for 8 hours and doesn't feel heavy on the skin.

Rimmel Stay Matte Foundation (£6) If I had to choose between Infallible or Stay Matte I would pick this Rimmel foundation every time. Natural Beige is a good match for my still tanned skin from Thailand. The coverage is insane even with a stippling brush. It costs less than the Infallible Matte foundation and you get more wear out of the product because of its pigmentation. It does feel slightly heavier but if I set my face with  a loose powder then my skin just feels like skin. Plus, it lasts all day.

Too Faced Shadow Insurance (£17) This is my go-to primer, I purchased it on eBay for a lot less than the RRP and I haven't been disappointed. I don't have particularly oily lids so even if I skip eye primer my shadow tends to last until I wash it off, but this product prevents creasing and helps the shadows apply richer and better in my opinion. There are a few other primers I am eager to try, if you have any recommendations or holy grail products let me know in the comments.

Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer (£4.19) Constantly rave about this concealer and the only reason I am boring you with my deep-seated love for this product, yet again, is because I have been using the shade Fair 1 and not Warm Medium 3, incredibly this kicks ass at highlighting my face. I didn't even notice I had the wrong shade that's how good it looks. I might get the darkest shade Dark 4 for concealing blemishes and just to compare the shade difference.

Urban Decay Perversion Mascara Travel Size (£8) At a wedding I attended last weekend, my uncle asked me if I was wearing fake lashes and I thought I had died and gone to heaven. I was wearing this mascara which packs a curl and honestly does give you bigger, badder and blacker lashes like it claims. I would recommend the travel size because supposedly you're supposed to change your mascara every six weeks anyway. I wear this to work, I wear this to events, weddings, birthday parties. Having a good lash day is inevitable with this mascara and who doesn't want those lashes that look too good to be true?

Laura Mercier Smooth Finish Foundation Powder (£34) A good foundation powder can fix the messiest of makeup mistakes. I love this powder because it is lightweight, finely milled and comes with a great sponge. I don't actually like using this as a foundation it just feels too much like makeup on my face which leads to me constantly touching my face and smearing my makeup. Not pretty. As a setting powder it's brilliant. I used it to wipe away my way too heavy "baking" and it fixed my face instantly. Seriously considering, checking out their mineral foundation.

Collection Barely There Sheer Loose Powder (£3) Just a great, inexpensive loose powder that doesn't leave a white cast even if you "bake" for twenty minutes. When you knock it off your skin feels so soft and smooth, it sets your makeup in place all day keeping the oil at bay. Love.

Collection Lasting Gel Nail Colour in Almost Nude (£2.50) Why do I feel so fancy with basic nude nails? It's just my favourite nail polish, it has the best brush: one swipe covers my whole nail. It dries quickly and is the perfect warm nude that compliments my skin. It is one of those classic colours you can wear all year round with anything at all. A staple.

Other favourites from this month are the songs It's You by Zayn Malik and Stone by Alessia Cara. My favourite TV show has to be RuPaul's Drag Race and The Simpsons, two shows I will love till the day I die. I have been reading a lot this month and my favourite book thus far has to be Stain by Francette Phal.

As for my FAILS the last few weeks minus my cousin's wedding and the Alessia Cara concert, thank God the month ended on a high, have been horrendous. I have had work issues, bank issues, people issues and to top it all off hair issues to boot. Don't trust hairdressers, they're the devil. I have been feeling utterly shit and constantly comparing myself to other bloggers and accounts on Instagram and Bloglovin' really doesn't help. I honestly feel I'm lifting myself up out of that crappy mood I was in and really getting back into blogging. I want to write more about what I want to write and not be so consumed with what everyone else is doing. As for beauty products or anything else that failed me this month the Pixi Glow Mud Mineral Mask (£18) isn't rocking my world. I thought I would see such a difference in my skin and it remains the same. Not cool.

Love ♥
Kiran

  3. Urban Decay Perversion is one of my top 3 favourite high end mascaras, it's seriously good and I agree about getting travel size because it dries up pretty quick. And gah, I wanted Carli Bybel palette since forever but I can't justify getting another neutral palette for myself. :-(

    1. I love it, it's strange because at first I completely overlooked it, but I am so happy with my lashes whenever I wear it. I am dying to try out the new Marc Jacobs mascara though, it looks divine!

    1. It's a beautiful mascara, I'll be repurchasing it. What's your favourite drugstore mascara? I think S&G Thick and Fast mascara is really good too.

  7. Hey Kiran,
I love this post. I never got along with Collection concealer but never thought to use it for highlighting...doh! I'm shocked that Pixi Glow Mud Mask isn't doing anything for you. It's probably one of my most fave masks of all time but just goes to show how everyone is different, which brings me on to my last point which is, definitely do not compare your fabulous self to anyone else unless you really want to end up depressed. lol! :) xxx

    1. Ah I'll have to give it another crack, how do you use it if I may ask? It does make my skin feel super soft but I haven't noticed an improvement in my actual skin. I know, I completely agree, it's just hard sometimes.
