It's a little late, but my April Favourites are here. I have a few things to share with you this time, not only makeup but, music, a few books and a TV series too. As always, share yours with me in the comments or leave a blog link so I can read your full posts (How to Leave a Clickable Blog Link in the Comment Section). Without further ado, let's get into the makeup:
Makeup Revolution I Heart Chocolate Palette (£8) Hailed as a dupe for the Too Faced Chocolate Palette (£39), this palette is full of lovely, pigmented, creamy shadows in a variety of finishes that are ideal for brown eyes and warm skin tones. I used this a tonne while away in Dublin. The colours are really wearable and appropriate for both the day and the night. A great all-round palette.
Makeup Forever HD Setting Powder (£22) I got this at Christmas and only just started using it, I like it for evenings as it is undetectable on the skin. I will be doing a more in-depth review on this soon, but it is so finely milled and I only need to use the tiniest amount to set my makeup. I haven't baked with this yet, but I will let you know how it holds up in my full review.
Wilko Premium Powder Brush (£4) It's brilliant, the Wilkinson's brushes are so soft and unbelievably affordable. This brush is massive, just dab it in your loose powder and swirl it all over your face, instant mattifying powers in seconds, and I am all about matte skin.
Sheer Cover Base Perfector Primer (£35) Generally, primers are something I skip, but on the days I use this my colleagues seem to compliment my skin, foundation specifically, a lot more. To my eye, I don't detect a difference, but compliments make me feel good so I had to include this as a favourite.
Soap & Glory Thick & Fast Mascara (£10) This mascara is raved about for a reason, it keeps my lashes separated, curly and makes them look thick and full, without being too much. Clumpy lashes are the worst but if you keep it to two coats your lashes will remain clump-free.
Stila Baked Cheek Duo in Pink Glow (£15) Blushes like primers are something I usually skip, but this is such a gorgeous baked blush that using it is a pleasure. The colour is so flattering and beautiful, plus it will last forever. It's quite amazing, I have used it for years, my sister uses it too and we haven't made the slightest dent of it at all.. A beautiful natural pinkish blush, perfect for Spring.
Makeup aside, the books I wanted to mention are Face to Face by Scott Barnes (£5) and the Fallen Crest Series (first book is 99p). The Face to Face book is something I picked up at my local library, I wasn't too keen to read it but I opened it up a few weeks ago and was pleasantly surprised by it. It has a lot more substance than I thought it would, plus it contains some legendary people like Mike Ruiz, Vanessa Williams and Jeffree Star. A perfect lesson in not judging a book by its cover. No offence to Kim Kardashian.
On the other hand, the Fallen Crest Series by Tijan follows a girl called Sam whose whole life is turned upside down when her Mom leaves her Dad for her new fancy-man, uprooting Sam and moving her into a house with two teenage boys who are basically the top dogs at Fallen Crest. Mason and Logan Kade both despise their Dad, show pure disdain to Sam's mother and are happy to treat Sam like she doesn't exist, which she is more than happy with. But things change, and they become closer. I love this series, the first book is my favourite because Sam is such a strong, amazing character who has overcome so much. I respect every decision and action she takes in the first book. I am on the third book currently and still hooked on this series. I can't recommend it enough, it is a little far-fetched, lots of backstabbing and bitchery from both the adults and the teenagers. A lot of it is hard to swallow and the parenting in this series is appalling, but it is a fantastic read and Sam and Mason will have you rooting for them from the very beginning.
As for TV series, I am currently watching Sons of Anarchy. First season Jax Teller is perfection, I am loving this show. I am also watching Ru Paul's All Stars Drag Race which is brilliant as you get to see a lot of your favourite characters from previous seasons like Raven and Jujubee. Last but not least: music! I found this mash up/cover of Photography by Ed Sheeran and Clean by Taylor Swift by the beautiful Louisa Wendorff and Who Is Fancy, the lyrics are beautifully interwoven and the singing is pure magic. I strongly suggest you check out both her original music and other mash-ups. They are all brilliant, have a listen to Photography/Clean below.
Thank you so much for reading, I hope you enjoyed this post. Leave your favourites in the comments below. I love reading them, and please share your favourite song, books, TV shows of the month too. I have been watching Made in Chelsea and Real Housewives of New York as well, I am a reality show junkie and I am not ashamed. Hope you all have a fantastic week. Take care.
