Everyone wants to find that perfect drugstore mascara that will give you beautiful fluttery lashes for the price of a packet of crisps. I heard a YouTuber declare the Lash Princess Mascara from Essence Cosmetics their favourite mascara, so I had to try it. In the UK, you can purchase the Lash Princess Mascara at Wilkinsons (£3.30) and in the US you can purchase it at Ulta ($5).
The packaging and branding is a little girly for my preferences, it makes me think of Disney princesses and Cinderella stories so I feel like it targets a young, maybe even tween crowd. It has a "cobra-head wand, which is specially designed to coat, separate and lift each individual lash for the most majestic volume". I have taken before and after pictures of the mascara on my own lashes, which are nothing special but they're not non-existent. You can see the wand below, lots of short bristles with a curved shape, hence the cobra analogy. I do like the concept of a cobra-shaped wand, makes me feel quite bad-ass as the name Lash Princess is almost too sweet for my taste.
Do I like this mascara? Yes, I do. There are pros and cons, the price is definitely a great selling-point. The design is nice, but feminine. If you apply just one coat it will definitely give you length. I don't personally believe it made my lashes appear thicker or add much volume., but it's a nice mascara. The two cons I have are: if you apply more than one coat it can get clumpy and because the wand is curved it is difficult, at least for me, to match my lashes. My personal preference is clump-free, perfectly separated lashes that look long and lovely. This gives more of a spiky effect, which I don't hate. but I don't love it either. On the other hand, it does make my bottom lashes super long. I would recommend it for people with good lashes to start with, if you already have lashes of a decent length then I think this would do quite a good job of super-sizing them and giving you the princess lashes of your dreams.
Thank you so much for reading, I hope you enjoyed this post. I would love to know your favourite affordable mascara. Please let me know in the comments, as I really need an alternative to the £33 By Terry Macara that I am obsessed with (see post here). Hope you are all having a lovely week, I finally got around to watching Lemonade by Beyonce last night. If you have watched it, please let me know what you thought of it in the comments. I am dying to know. Love you all. Take care.
