Jackie Aina has collaborated with Elf Cosmetics to create a limited edition eyeshadow palette called the J Glow Clay Eyeshadow Palette ($6). Currently it is only being sold online via their US website, I don't know if there are any plans to bring it to the UK, but if there is a demand for it then it will be made available in US stores. It's only $6 which is amazing, but then Elf is known for being shockingly budget friendly. You get 5 shadows in the palette which is infused with Kaolin Clay hence the name of the palette: J Glow Clay Eyeshadow Palette. Kaolin Clay absorbs oil and adds aherance to the cosmetic, thus making it last longer on the skin, it is natural. The five colours are a matte ultramarine blue, matte dark plum, matte dusky lilac, shimmery warm gold and a frosty shimmery lilac. This palette would be well suited to anyone with a warm skin tone and especially those with deeper skin, as demonstrated by Jackie herself in the video below.
If you read my last post you know I want to delve a little deeper into products so you can see the ingredients here. Ingredients: Talc, Mica, Magnesium Stearate, Dimethicone, PTFE, Nylon-12, Kaolin, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Tridecyl Trimellitate, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol. May Contain: Titanium Dioxide, Iron Oxides, Manganese Violet, Red 40 Lake and Ultramarines. Other makeup companies that have the exact same formula to create their eyeshadows are Cat Cosmetics, Milani and Makeup Revolution. I do believe these brands all manufacture the products in China. Elf Cosmetics are both cruelty free and vegan, meaning they contain no animal products and are not tested on animals. To read more about their animal friendly ways click here. Their products are made in China, however, so they are saving money on labour costs. I can't speak specifically on the quality of the eyeshadows themselves, I do like the colours and believe they are very complementary to anyone with brown eyes, but I personally wouldn't be able to create many looks with this palette for the daytime. On the other hand it is $6 so who even cares?
Thank you so much for reading, I haven't tried anything from Elf Cosmetics but so far I am impressed with what I have learnt about their company so far, it is a shame that their products are made in China, but to be able to sell and buy palettes for $6 a company has to cut costs somewhere. Please share your thoughts on the colours and palette and Elf Cosmetics as a brand below. Take care.
