Back in Sock! Becca x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Collection Face Palette on Sephora Today Review |
Jaclyn Hill just announced on her Instagram that the Limited Edition Becca x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Collection Face Palette will be available again on Sephora today! I can understand why with this gorgeous white and gold packaging, I don't think I have seen a more festive-looking beauty product, it would look right at home under a Christmas tree. I really thought I had missed the boat on this product and that there was no point in my uploading a review on it because the ship had long since sailed, however, it looks like Sephora has my back. So now I know that they are re-stocking it I can feel a little better about waiting six months to post this review. Apologies for the wait, guys.

Becca x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Collection Face Palette Review and Swatches - Worth The Hype? |
I pre-ordered this face palette back in June via Space NK, it was blowing up everywhere and I just had to see what the hype about Champagne Pop was. Everyone I know praised that highlight to the high heavens, it was going down in history as the highlight to end all highlights. When I first got the palette, news of the new Champagne Split Pans broke and people were understandably upset, not to mention. the controversy surrounding the eyeshadow palette. It all just left a bad taste in my mouth and this palette sat by unused while I ummed and ahhed about whether to just use it in a giveaway. After some gentle persuasion from some fellow bloggers like Shireen from Reflection Of Sanity, I realised £48 was a heck of a lot of money so I owed it to myself to play around with it. I took the requisite photos for the blog and then gently tried it out over the following months.

I want to start by saying that this is probably my favourite packaging of any product ever. The white bouncy texture of the palette, the heftiness, the gold dots in a circular arrangement: genius. It is so beautiful and looks gorgeous and pretty and I can't praise whoever thought of this concept enough. Stunning. Really innovative and a break from all the traditional rose gold (which of course I still love) and sleek black. Becca really impressed me with this packaging, I own nothing else from them and out of their entire line this is the best looking item in their collection. Such a shame its limited edition, because if all their packaging was like this, oh my God, I would buy it all. In a flash.

Inside the palette you get 2 blushes - Pampelmousse and Amaretto; 1 blush topper - Rose Spritz; and 2 highlights - the well loved Champagne Pop and the new Prosecco Pop. The palette in total costs $52 or £48, each highlight pan is 0.19oz, each blush is 0.12 and the blush topper Rose Spritz is 0.10oz. I haven't tried anything else from the Becca line so unfortunately can't comment on how they perform in comparison to their original single pan/permanent products. Nevertheless, let's dive into the swatches. As always, all swatches are done with one swipe of the finger and no primer.

Becca x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Face Palette Swatches (from top-bottom): Pampelmousse, Amaretto, Rose Spritz |
Pampelmousse (blusher) - bright warm pinky orange blush, the least used shade for me out of this whole palette. The finish is satin, although it looks matte in the pan. It is very pretty, just a little much for me as I find blush quite intimidating. I definitely prefer muted tones, in general the formula and pigmentation are both excellent. It's just the colour isn't my cup of tea. Amaretto (blusher) - muted warm rosy blush colour, almost mauve-brown in tone. My favourite out of this whole palette, this is the first thing I tried and something I continuously dip into. One of my all time favourite discoveries this year, the most gorgeous blush for olive/medium skin tones. Again a satin finish, it just gives a really healthy glow and lively flush to your cheeks without looking clownish or unnatural. Very beautiful. Rose Spritz (blush topper) - warm rosy pink with gold frost, initially I didn't think I would use this at all. When would I ever want a metallic sheen on my cheeks? But using it on top of Amaretto adds a nice touch especially when going to event. I love using it on other people. It's not as glittery or harsh as it looks swatched, if applied with a light hand it can be extremely flattering.

Becca x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Face Palette Swatches (from top to bottom): Prosecco Pop and Champagne Pop Shimmering Skin Perfectors |
The most anticipated aspect of the palette are most likely the two Shimmering Skin Perfectors included, especially the newly created Prosecco Pop (highlight) - yellow gold shimmery highlight with strong yellow undertones. The highly popular Champagne Pop (highlight) is also included - champagne gold shimmery highlight with a dash of warm peach. Some have said that the Champagne Pop is stronger in this palette than it is in the single compact, but I haven't tried it alone. I want to talk about these two together because highlight is something I struggle to love. Most of them are too glittery, sparkly, shimmery. I find a lot of formulas highlight texture and just sit on top of my skin, it isn't until I have blended them away to nothing that I feel comfortable leaving the house, so honestly I'm not a fan. If I had to choose I would say I prefer the Prosecco Pop, I find the colour slightly more flattering on me. All in all, they are still both very similar. If you love a strong highlight you will love these, I prefer something a lot softer that lends more of a sheen.

All in all, I can't deny that this palette would make the most gorgeous gift. If you are considering purchasing it as a present for someone, by all means, get it. It is too lovely not to and they can always return it, if it's not for them. If it is for yourself, consider your preferences and what you will use. I can admit that I do not regret purchasing this palette at all, I have used all the shades as I do makeup on other people on occasion and it is really lovely for weddings. Truly, the only thing I love about this palette is Amaretto, it has fast become my Holy Grail blush, I feel I can wear this shade on my cheeks and nothing else and look slayed for the Gods. It is a stunning shade and formula, I would even pay £48 just for that blush and this exquisite packaging, but if I was only going to use makeup on myself I would have been happy with the Amaretto-Prosecco Pop Shimmering Split Pan ($28). Thank you so much for reading, hope you enjoyed this rather late review. Take care.
Do you have/want this palette?
Love ❤
Kiran
I have this palette and its amazing, although I don't pick it up as much as I'd like since I have Champagne Pop single already so it's a bit bulky for me to get out for everyday use. Great review! :)

Thank you Shan! Xx
DeleteI don't think I would need it since I already have Champagne Pop. I would say that the packaging is beautiful! I don't think it would would work well for my skin tone (the blushes).

I think Amaretto would definitely suit you, but yeah Pampelmousse and Rose Spritz aren't my favourite either, thank you for commenting Hannah! Xx
DeleteI agree, this is the most beautiful packaging I have ever seen!! I don't have this palette and I don't think I will be purchasing it since I have too many face palettes and new blushes waiting to be tested, but it is absolutely gorgeous! x

I know right, so so pretty! Thank you Yiota xxx
DeleteI like you was a bit put off by all the controversy but I have to admit it swatches beautifully! I've been into a more subtle highlight lately so I'm still not sure this would be the palette for me but good to know it's back on Sephora in case I change my mind! Thanks for sharing your thoughts lovely

I had no idea there was a controversy... must look into this now...
DeleteI know I definitely prefer subtle highlights, highly recommend Makeup Forever Pro Fusion Light Golden, stunning! Thank you for your comment xxx
DeleteReally surprised, I thought that news was everywhere. It happened around June time, about some of their eye palettes being made in a different factory (in China) so they could meet the demands of the consumer. They basically tried to cut corners without telling anybody but their customers noticed the difference and basically forced them to admit what happened. I still think the whole thing was shady to be honest but hopefully they learnt their lesson. Thank you for reading, Rae xxx
DeleteTotally in love with that palette!

DeleteIt's a shame you don't love all of the products it has in it for yourself but great that you can get some use out of it still, and that you found a new favourite in it :)
ReplyDeleteIt is a really pretty palette, clever move by them to restock in time for Christmas!
Hope you've had a wonderful weekend :)

Such a smart move! Thank you, you too! Xx
DeleteI don't have it and, to be honest, I don't want it. Just like you I prefer my highlight to be on the subtle side, and even though I think I might get use out of the blushes I don't think for me personally the price would be justified.
ReplyDeleteLinda, Libra, Loca: Beauty, Baby and Backpacking
True, it's not really worth it for me either based on the product. I just like the exterior that much haha, thank you for commenting xxx
DeleteAhh I so want this palette! I love an all out there highlight, so this would be perfect for me. All the shades are so beautiful too and I love that you included swatches so we can see them in all their glory. Fab post xx

Thank you Lauren, this sounds like something you would really love xxx
DeleteSuch a great, informative review, I don't plan on getting it but I always find reviews about collaborations very interesting as I know what to expect with upcoming ones! I believe I would also find Pamplemousse very intimidating and the highlighters a little bit too intense for my liking!

So glad you liked it! Xx
DeleteIt's actually quite rare for me to see a palette where I actually love ALL the colors in it but this is one of those special cases. What a lovely product I can totally understand why it was out of stock in the first place!

Haha I am sure it will be out of stock again really soon too! Thank you for reading xxx
DeleteHi Kiran, such a beautiful and detailed review! This is one of my all time favorite palettes from packaging, to shade selection and formula. Definitely a big hit for Becca. I also agree with you that Amaretto is one of the most beautiful blushes I have ever seen (and I've seen quite a few). It's also the one that surprised me the most as I thought it might be too warm for my olive skin, instead it's become the one I reach for the most! Great review!

Yes, Amaretto, oh my God what a find, LOVE it. Thank you for commenting Cat xxx
DeleteReally great review lovely, so interesting to hear what you actually thought of it rather than people just hyping it up! It sounds like a great palette if you like a bold blush and a strong highlighter, but maybe not best for everyday use!

DeleteThere was so much controversy around this collection that I probably won't end up buying anything from it but this palette looks like it would make a perfect gift, especially for someone who loves bolder formulas!
ReplyDeletewww.thesundaymode.com
It would certainly make an amazing gift! Xx
DeleteThe palette is absolutely gorgeous! I had sort of wanted it at first but then realized that a) it was already taking my forever to finish my one becca highlighter b) was a bit turned off of it after the whole recall scandal. But it looks like this was the hit of the collection! All the powders swatch beautifully :) I really love the blush shades!

DeleteIt's quite big...but oh my god does it look fantastic! That champagne pop has got me swooning...think I might wait for the January sales tho, it's so expensive!
ReplyDeletekatie xx lacoconoire.com
It's not that big, I can't think of a palette to compare it to, but no bigger than a standard face palette. You can hold it one hand, it is sooo expensive xxx
DeleteWhat a gorgeous looking palette!

They look so beautiful but I can imagine them being too sparkly applied on the face
