Genuinely, this eternal darkness is really starting to get me down. I have to choose between a much needed lie-in on a weekend or getting up in the freezing cold to take some semi-decent pictures. Guess which one I did today? You got it, sorry, but I slept pretty well. Tomorrow I am going to get my act together and get some good photos, rain, wind or snowstorm.
As most of you know I am recovering from a cold, almost there thank goodness, and just in general I have had a pretty shitty month, mood-wise, I have finally decided enough is e-bloody-nough. Time to pull myself up, whack on a smile and get my shit together. If any of you guys are feeling down in the dumps then here are a few things to get you back to feeling like the best version of yourself on your road to recovery (from illness, a break up, or any knockback, I got chu girl or boy).
WASH YOUR HAIR
Hardly genius, but there is nothing I hate more than washing my hair, but it is a necessity. As much I love a messy fun bun, there is something slovenly about having hair that is 40% dry shampoo and 100% unattractive. It makes me feel like crap because I look like crap. No one should look as bad as they feel unless it can't be helped. So wash the hair, treat yourself to some leave-in conditioner and go about your business. Or if that's not going to happen try and make your bun a little cuter than normal.
FRESH NAILS
Paint your nails properly. I mean the whole shebang, clean them with remover ensuring they are spotless. Cut and file as appropriate, put down a base and two coats of your chosen shade and finish with a top coat. Give them plenty of minutes to dry, I usually like doing my nails while watching a makeup tutorial or an episode of Modern Family. Do your feet too and you'll feel somewhat human again.
BE A LITTLE PRODUCTIVE
Do one productive thing. This could be anything, something really small like making a Christmas shopping list. Go see your grandparents, call a sibling, clean the house, take photos for your blog (cough cough I'm such a hypocrite) anything at all that makes you feel like today was not a waste.
EAT WELL
Stop eating shit. The more junk food I eat, the worse I feel. It's an endless cycle as the lower my mood the more convinced I am that chocolate will totally make me feel better. It doesn't. I feel even worse and more often than not I didn't even want the stupid chocolate in the first place.
CUT THE CRAP
Not talking about junk food anymore, I am talking about people, about clothes you're never going to wear again, makeup way past its expired date. Get rid of all the shit. Clean it all out. Not only does this count as being productive - bonus points - but you will feel so much better with a clean space.
CLEAN SHEETS
Changing your bedsheets makes such a difference, it's like the first step to changing your life (dramatic much). Nothing smells better than freshly laundered sheets and hey if you're still not feeling yourself take a nap. Go to bed a little early, soak in the gorgeous scent and wake up ready to start again.
UNPLUG
I don't mean read the latest Byrdie article that you found on Twitter, I mean put away your phone and your tablet and all of those other nonsense distractions for just an hour and sit down with an actual proper book and just read it. Social media is a large part of my blog so I would never judge anybody for being attached to their phone and social media. It's just part of the parcel these days, but you will feel such a difference if you unplug yourself for just an hour. You don't have to read, take a nice bath, pamper yourself, try out a cut crease, write a new post in a notebook, play with your neice. Just enjoy being alive and having the choice of whole hour where you can do what you want.
3 WORDS: AT HOME WORKOUT
Anyone can go to a gym and piss about on a treadmill, but doing a workout at home takes dedication. There are so many things you can do and you'll feel a hell of a lot better. Do a high intensity workout for just fifteen minutes, take a cold shower and you'll feel unstoppable.

Delete"No one should look as and as they feel" - my favorite quote from this blog post. Whenever I am in a crappy mood, my makeup is extra nice, that helps at least a little.
