MAY FAVOURITES AND FAILS

June is already upon us, crazy. This month I turn 23 and the thought of this makes my stomach muscles squeeze with panic (but hello abs). Moving on, here are the products I have been loving and hating this month. I would love to know what your favourites and fails are too so please leave me a comment below and if you've tried any of these products share your thoughts on them below.

Huda Beauty Rose Gold Palette (£56) I have said this before but the matte shadows in this palette work like a dream for me, plus the overall shade range and gorgeous shade range houses everything I typically need. I haven't even looked at my other eyeshadow palettes lately which is really saying something. The glitters or "textured shadows" are ignored on a daily basis but the mattes are perfect.

Dior Star Foundation 031 (£35) Fairly certain I tried this in the past and hated it, I don't know if it is the weather or my skin has changed but this foundation looks so lovely on the skin. It has just the right amount of coverage, blends so easily and wears prettily as time goes on. I always have a good skin day with this foundation and I am finally starting to see the hype with Dior products.

Makeup Forever HD Setting Powder (£24.50) Out of all the setting powders I have tried, this one feels the lightest on my skin, like air. Plus, all the powders I put on top blend effortlessly. I really like how this sets the face and makes my skin look poreless, I wouldn't say it is great at controlling oil personally so if that is something you struggle with, like me, invest in a mattifying primer.

Tarte Lip Facial Scrub (£13) The convenience and uniqueness of this product are what make it a favourite for me. Essentially, you twist it up and apply it like a lip balm but the balm has tiny granules that exfoliate the surface of the lips leaving your lips smooth and free of dead skin while moisturising them at the same time. It has a minty scent and taste and fresh after using this my lips look plumper and more voluptuous. This effect doesn't last too long though.

NYX Highlighter in Ice Queen (£3.50) This is actually in my Highlight and Contour Palette that I use pretty often as well, but I am particularly obsessed with this highlighter. For the longest time I thought it would be too pale and icy for my skin but it gives the most gorgeous glowy, slightly wet , glossy, strobed look. I apply it to the tops of the cheekbones, above the brows and the cupid's bow.

FAILS

Only one fail this month and that is the Tata Harper Replenishing Nutrient Complex (£42), I got this as part of the Daily Essentials Set and my issue with it is it doesn't do anything. I looked at directions on how to use it and it can be applied all over the face as some supercharged vitamin treatment. The rollerball makes applying it all over the face unpleasant and it didn't leave my skin feeling better or worse in any way, shape or form. I read some reviews and one lady said she loved it for her lips and found it really hydrating so I tried it on my lips and it is hydrating and pleasant and the rollerball is much handier on the lips than the face but a £1 lip balm would do the exact same job. It is supposed to be especially suited for dry, dehydrated and stressed skin so maybe if you have dry skin you will have better luck. I would say my skin has dry areas and is probably stressed and dehydrated and this was pointless. Let me know in the comments below if you have tried it!

UPDATE: I was searching online last night to find out more about the Replenishing Nutrient Complex and found some more information on Nordstrom. Here, and nowhere else which is bizarre not even on the Tata Harper website, it suggests massaging the oil into the skin in circular motions. I did this last night and noticed that it would start to pill on itself which in turn made my skin softer and more nourished. I tried it again this morning. It didn't pill but made my skin quite soft. I still don't think it is worth the money. The Body Shop Liquid Peels do a similar thing for just £18. I know they are two completely different products with different purposes in mind but in terms of what it did to my skin specifically I find them quite comparable. I will say that with extended use and maybe if you do have more damage to repair on your skin the Tata Harper product might be of more use to you.

Thank you so much for reading, I hope you enjoyed this post. Please share your own monthly loves and hates in the comments below, I would love to find some new discoveries. I have been feeling very spendy lately so expect some cool reviews this month. I cannot believe it is June already, but I go to Malaga next week and I am so excited. I cannot wait. Have a brilliant day. Take care.

Have you tried any of these products?

  4. The Tata Harper one is nothing like the TBS Liquid Peels, it is a completely different product by ingredients and effect. The Liquid Peel is actually a peel, the Tata Harper one is nourishing and filled with antioxidants to repair damage done, which is why it is recommended for stressed skin.

    1. I understand they are different products, my point was the effect that it had on MY skin was similar to my experience with The Body Shop liquid peel. I am sorry if that wasn't clear, I will amend it so it is, thank you for commenting xxx
