WORTH THE HYPE? | MAKEUP FOREVER ULTRA HD FOUNDATION REVIEW

Makeup Forever Ultra HD Foundation Review: Is It Worth The Hype?
Foundation, to me, can ultimately make or break your makeup and finding a good foundation that not only looks exquisite in real life but also photographs like a dream is damn near impossible. The Makeup Forever Ultra HD Foundation was one of those crazily hyped makeup products that every influencer and their dog talked about obsessively on the internet. It was 2015's Tarte Shape Tape and for that reason I was not having it. Nothing can possibly be that good, but a few months ago I gently nudged pushed my sister into buying this foundation because I have secretly wanted to see if the hype was justified forever. The conclusion is yes, the hype is justified and here's why.

Makeup Forever Ultra HD Foundation Review: Is It Worth The Hype?
As an owner of the Original HD Foundation, which I bought after devouring a slew of videos that declared it was the better option for oily skin types, I can hand on heart say that the Ultra HD is simply better. It's thinner, with better pigmentation. The less viscous formula means it blends so well and is one of those unique products that just doesn't ever look bad no matter how much or how little you apply. It is the perfect buildable base that looks good in person and in photography which is extremely rare, at least in my experience. I really do love it. Not only do they have a fantastic array of shades, but the longevity is sublime. It is my go-to foundation because it never lets me down.

Makeup Forever Ultra HD Foundation Review Shade Y405: Is It Worth The Hype?
You can apply it with a brush or a sponge, I find applying it with a sponge gives a slightly better, more "skin-like" finish and has some impact on the wear time as well with it lasting slightly longer. I don't detect a scent when wearing it and tend to only use one pump of foundation for my face and neck and then half a pump for areas where I want slightly better coverage. It lasts almost perfectly for eight hours on my skin but I have worn it for sixteen hours plus and not been horrified which is the real measure of a foundation if you ask me. You can see it swatched on my hand below, a little goes a long way. You can see it is quite pigmented from the stripe but blends seamlessly into the skin creating a healthy, perfected finish that is suitable for all occasions.

Makeup Forever Ultra HD Foundation Review: Is It Worth The Hype? Y405 Swatch
I almost forgot to mention my favourite thing about this foundation which is it feels like nothing on the skin. I think I say this about every foundation I love, because who likes the feeling of foundation? Who? Typically, if I am wearing makeup it is going to be on my face until I go to bed that is a long ass freaking time, therefore I am not here for thick layers. I like it when my skin feels like skin even with foundation and powder and this truly feels like nothing which is fantastic. I believe it was formulated for 4K video which is as close to life-like as you can get in film and for that reason it is unbelievably light and yet still manages to be flawless

Makeup Forever Ultra HD Foundation Review: Is It Worth The Hype? Y405 Swatch
Thank you for reading my review, I think it is pretty clear I think this is worth the hype. The only cons I can think of is the price of course. At £30 das expensive (*Kathleen Lights reference*) but there is undeniably good reason why this is so popular even to this day and why it is such a winner for bridal photography as well. It doesn't have SPF which explains why it photographs so beautifully and the shade range is confusing so I would recommend going into Debenhams to get shade matched, or Sephora depending on where you live. Please be aware that everyone's skin is different, just because I adore this product and think it is the bee's knees, doesn't mean it will work for you and be compatible with your skin type. Everyone has different tastes and preferences. I sincerely hope you enjoyed this post and had a fantastic weekend. I hope this week is amazing for you all. To clear things up I had some questions about the two compared and I would happily do a post on that if you are interested. Take care.

What foundations do you recommend?

Love
Kiran

  1. When I first got this product several years ago, I didn't like it. I realized I wasn't applying it correctly. Now I love this product!

  2. I had a sample of the Ultra HD foundation but I personally didn't like it on me. I felt that it was too cakey. I do have the original HD foundation but I haven't used it in a while and it's like 2.5 years old, but I am afraid to part ways with it.

  7. It is so nice when that happens, when a product meets the hype that surrounds it, a confusing shade range sounds very scary to me but I will still check this foundation out! Lovely review as always :)

  8. Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us, girlie, it seems as though this is a great foundation for summer! I love that it doesn't feel heavy on the skin and that it's buildable. I actually am about to finish the foundation I've been using for a while now, so I'm in the market for a new one, I'll have to stop by Sephora and check this one out. Thanks again for sharing and I hope you have a great week ahead!

  20. I had no idea this was formulated for 4K video in mind! I was actually debating about splurging on this some time ago but then I found some recommendations that were better for my drier skin type (and more in my price range) so I'm not as into it, but it sounds amazing! I love a light base!

  33. I love this foundation. I had mine for the longest time and barely used it because I went a bit foundation crazy and had so many at the time. I think it went bad, so I ended up tossing it. I think I'll need to repurchase this soon!
