RESTOCK? BEAUTY BAY? | MORPHE X JACLYN HILL PALETTE UK SHIPPING COST BUYING EXPERIENCE REVIEW & SWATCHES

Morphe x Jaclyn Hill Paltte Review Photos and Swatches - Restock 22.08.2017
You guys have been waiting forever for this and I am sorry it has taken so long and that it isn't a full review. I have been playing with it for a week now and still haven't formed my full opinion truth be told. So instead of giving you my half-assed thoughts, I will use my whole ass later and go into great depth. For now I hope swatches and my initial impressions will suffice. Of course, there is a restock happening tomorrow so if you like the look of the palette now is the perfect time to get your hands on it. If you are in the UK there will be shipping and customs fees so bear that in mind and never feel like you have to buy everything just because you see it everywhere. I have so many palettes and I use only one or two of them, so make the choice for you. Not because you have Instagram envy. The restock is tomorrow at 8am PT which is 4pm in the UK and 1am in Australia.

I bought this palette from the Morphe site ($38). I placed the order on 18th July. I got an email to say it was shipped on the 20th July and it was delivered to my door on the 26th July via FedEx. Unfortunately, the 26th was the day after I flew to Portugal so it was two weeks before I was able to hold it in my hands but it only took a week to deliver from the States which is quite good. It arrived in perfect condition, the only issue was that I didn't get the sheet with the shade names on it. This isn't such a big deal but I am someone who likes to see the shade names so this is quite disappointing for me. I just think everyone should receive the same, so I don't understand why I didn't. Never mind, onto the shades. I swatch the palette row by row. There are 35 shadows in total and five rows, so that is seven eyeshadows per row. I will search the shade names so hopefully they are accurate. In total I paid $34.20 USD for the palette (using 10% off code), $29.95 in shipping and a further $18 in customs. That is a lot of money altogether so you know I want it to knock my socks off.

Morphe x Jaclyn Hill Paltte Review Photos and Swatches of Row 1 - Restock 22.08.2017
The first row from left to right (on the photo bottom to the top) is full of all the lightest colours. Enlight is a bright yet warm metallic white shade great as a brow bone or inner colour highlight. It is a little harsh as a highlight for my warm skin tone. Beam is similar to Enlight but with a yellow undertone, just as metallic and much more flattering on my skin tone as a brow highlight and inner corner highlight. Silk Creme was the first matte I tried and was very soft to the touch, a warm, peachy brown that would make an ideal transition. It was quite sheer both on the eyes and on my arm, this may have been deliberate as it might solely be used for blending other shades out. MFEO stands for made for each other and is a touch deeper and more neutral than Silk Creme and equally similar in terms of colour payoff. Faint is a surprisingly pigmented bright warm metallic pink. It is gorgeous and I would recommend applying all the metallics with a finger or a wet flat synthetic brush. Sissy has a cooler toned pink for a base but with a gold shimmer to it which makes it look overall warm. Little Lady still looks to be in the pink family to me but leaning towards a coppery undertone.

Creamsicle is a very pretty yellow. It has quite a warm undertone. It takes a while to build on the eyes and isn't shockingly pigmented from the get-go in my experience. Butter is a peanut butter colour I believe, I don't eat peanut butter but I have a nail polish called Peanut Butter and it is exactly the same shade, a medium orange-brown matte. Pooter is a more brown version of Butter, it looks slightly patchy on the arm but applied completely fine on the eyes. Pukey is of course a classic baby puke shade, I fortunately haven't seen much baby puke and think it looks like a rusty mustard colour. Not my favourite. Hunts is a stunning shade, very pigmented and beautifully warm orange-red. It has a slight sheen. Firework is a metallic red shade aptly named. Queen is a bronze-gold metallic, a shade you could get a lot of use out of.

The third row is very warm and the dodgiest set of swatches, sorry about that. Obsessed is another pink, this time a bit beige and very metallic. I am surprised there are so many pink metallics in this palette. It seems like a little too much for me. SBN is a warm mauve metallic in my eyes and the name stands for smoky but natural. Hillster is a rosy brown metallic, quite opaque. Roxanne is quite sheer and is a classic matte reddish brown shade. Jacz is a matte dark red brown, again some trouble swatching this as well. It was slightly drier than the other mattes. Buns again sheerer than I would like and a cool toned purplish brown matte, it makes me think of a bruise. Cranapple one of my favourite shade names is a gorgeous rich cranberry metallic.

Morphe x Jaclyn Hill Paltte Review Photos and Swatches of Row 4 - Restock 22.08.2017
This is probably my favourite row because purple is my favourite colour. Royalty is a rich royal purple metallic which makes me think of emperors. Twerk not as richly pigmented as Royalty is a royal blue/purple hybrid with a sheen. Doesn't swatch as well as the other metallics. Hustle a pretty metallic taupe which is similar to all the pink metallics in previous rows. Meeks is a lovely golden bronze metallic, lovely and warm too. 24/7 is a dark brown metallic. Chip like chocolate chip is the colour of a dark chocolate chip. Mocha again like a lot of the other more medium brown colours is quite sheer with not much opacity. The mattes overall have not been as rich in pigment as expected.

The last row and one of the standouts from the whole palette is Pool Party a gorgeous bright shimmering sky blue. It does not pack the same punch with a brush at all. You really have to pack it on to get the same kind of effect on the eyes which was quite a disappointment. Jada is a matte teal and swatched terribly. It was very dry and not as soft to the touch, one of the most disappointing shades in the palette. Diva a stunning metallic moss green. I love this shade. So flattering on brown eyes. Enchanted is a dark army green again slightly translucent like a lot of the mattes in this palette. Central Park a cool toned brown that reminds me of dark wood, disappointing colour pay off on the arm again but on the eyes fine. Soda Pop is a dark purple, it makes me think of black cherries. Last is Abyss a matte black which was actually lovely and soft, easy to blend and decent colour payoff.

My overarching impression of this palette is that it is very pretty. The metallics are definitely the better of the formulas, creamy and highly pigmented. The mattes are not comparable to the better mattes in my collection such as from Juvias Place, Urban Decay or Anastasia Beverly Hills but for the most part they work well on the eyes and blend out easily. Primarily, it is a warm-toned palette. There are a few pops of colour and some cool toned browns thrown in. I think there are a lot of pinks. If you love smoky eye looks then this palette will work really well for you. That is the only way I can kind of make sense of the colour selection. There are plenty of dark browns and transition shades and then I believe you could choose any of the metallics or bright colours to use as the feature shade on the lid. Apart from that I don't immediately think of amazing diverse looks I can create. There is some kickup but it is easily controlled. Truthfully think it is a pretty palette that can be used in many ways and the more I use it the more I will like it. Your decision on whether to buy would rest on what you already have in your collection. As I own a lot of the Juvia's Place palettes I do think I could have gone without it. That being said I could well change my mind. So far, taking into all the extra costs of shipping and custom fees I would say it isn't worth it for me. If I paid only $38 for it then yes it would have been worth it. Which speaking of, Beauty Bay just announced that the Morphe x Jaclyn Hill palette will be available on their site! Praise the lord, I am so thrilled for all of you and devastated for my own bank balance. To be kept in the loop and alerted of its arrival sign up here. Let me know your thoughts below. Thank you. Take care.

What do you think of the Morphe x Jaclyn Hill palette?

  1. I can't get over how stunning these colours are! If there's anything I love in the makeup world it's the eyeshadow - You can never go wrong with a pretty orange! Faint and Silk Creme look so nice.

  3. This palette is stunning but I just can't get over the price. I love how it has the warm tones but also those purple shades because those are some of my favourites. Thanks for another informative review xx Nikita

  4. I'm still in two minds about this - I've had it in my basket and clicked out at check out because I have my doubts. I think at $38 alone, it's good value but with shipping & customs? I'm not sure, especially when I have so many other palettes in my collection! There's no denying how beautiful those purples are though! xx

  5. Wow shipping is a crazy amount! I don't know if I would get it myself as the shades just don't stand out to me, maybe I'm just being overly picky as most of my palettes are just going to waste, but I can't see myself using this a lot, although the transition shades would be good as I don't have many at the moment xx

  7. I really love this palette and I try not to think about how much I spent with shipping and customs. I would not repurchase if something happened to it, which is why I wouldn't travel with it. I did receive the sheet but they really should have just put the names on the palette. I have the Juvia's Place Nubian palette and I really want to get the Masquerade palette next. http://www.mrsqbeauty.com

  8. The colors look beautiful and I love that they included a mix of neutrals and more fun colors! I personally get overwhelmed by large palettes (too many color choices, haha), so I like to stick to smaller ones. But for $38 it's a pretty good deal!

  11. What a beautiful palette! It's a shame that it costs a crazy amount, the shipping and customs from stuff in the US is really off putting, as the total is crazy xx

  12. This palette is definitely Jaclyn in a nutshell! xx I love a good morphe 35 colour palette, as you get such a wide spectrum of shades to play with and create looks with! However, as you suggested, maybe it's not really necessary - I have a few Juvia's place palettes of amazing quality and similar shades. So I think I might skip this one! Sorry Jaclyn haha! xx

  14. This palette is very pretty and I really like Morphe shadows, but this palette isn't available at Beautybay so I won't buy it, because buying in the Morphe website would become very expensive - shipping and customs to Portugal are sooo expensive!

  15. Whoa, shipping & customs was crazy! I can see why this palette wouldn't be worth it, taking those into consideration. Personally, this palette isn't for me as I'd probably only get use out of a few of the shadows.

  16. I love the diversity in this palette, that's my biggest issue with Morphe is that every shade often looks the same! I just bought this for my best friend for her birthday and I hope she will get a lot of use out of it!

    1. The pigmentation is pretty good across the board and more importantly I have had no trouble with blending or fallout. So there are lots of pluses the colours just aren't must haves for me. Thank you for reading Ash x

  19. I love how this palette looks, as soon as it is on Beauty Bay in the UK I think I'm adding it to my collection! The shades 'Jacz' and 'Cranapple' are my favourites, although it's a shame that 'Jacz' doesn't swatch well.

  23. For so long i didn't feel like getting this palette, i just wasn't tempted by it, add to the fact that morphe shipping fees are just a complete rip off and just forget it haha. But seeing as they eventually will have it on beauty bay i'd be keen to get it from there though i don't the whole set an alarm waiting for a product to be launched on the site haha, so if it happens to be in stock i'll get it. Great post. x
