NEW HUDA BEAUTY MELTED SHADOWS SWATCHES & EYE LOOKS

Launching on December 26th aka Boxing Day. A new never-seen-before formula from Huda Beauty the Huda Beauty Melted Shadows, Huda is coming out with 5 different shades, each product is dual-sided, with one side being matte, but not just matte, she describes the formula as smudge-proof, crease-proof, waterproof and foolproof. On the other side you get a metallic side that is a shimmery shade that compliments the matte shade. Retailing for $25, I imagine when they come to the UK most likely via Cult Beauty they will be around the £20 mark.

The lightest duo is Faux Fur - light bone beige matte and Bamboo Hoops - light gold shimmer. The next lightest duo is Bubble Bath - neutral pink and Pink Champagne - you guessed it a shimmering pink champagne. The one Huda herself demonstrates in her video is Private Jet - warm pinky nude matte and Shimmering Sunset - shimmery champagne gold. A more intense duo is Hot Sauce - pigmented reddish brown matte and Cherry Soda - cherry shimmer with a brown undertone. Last but not least is Silk Bomber - true purple matte and Bubble Gum - iridescent pinkish purple shade, this one is the one that appealed to me the most and her sister Alya demonstrates it in the video.

You can see them in action above and below in Huda's Reveal Video, it is emphasised that they are created for all makeup lovers, whether professionals, beginners or enthusiasts and furthermore, are incredibly quick and easy to use. Huda creates an eye look in just one minute in her video. My personal opinion is that I am not bowled over, I think the packaging and product is lovely, there are a lot of gold shimmers when surely we all already own a million gold shimmers. I don't find blending powder eyeshadow that difficult and find waiting for creams to set and dry a bit of a pain in the ass, plus a waterproof formula is great but removing makeup is always something I think about when applying makeup so not sure if this is a product I would appreciate. I am eager to learn and see more about these shadows and hope they release more interesting combinations in the future.

Thank you so much for reading, I am always intrigued by whatever Huda and her team release I think she makes very Instagram-friendly products and I appreciate the thought and purpose behind each release. At the moment, I have no plans to buy these but that might change in the future. Never say never. I would love to hear what you think about the Huda Beauty Melted Shadows, are you interested? Do you have your eye on any particular shades? Silk Bomber and Bubblegum looked the most interesting to me but seeing them on Alya to  be honest was disappointing. Leave your thoughts below and come back on Thursday for a Holiday Gift Guide. Take care.

What are your thoughts on the new Huda Beauty Melted Shadows?

LUNAR BEAUTY GREEK GODDESS HOLIDAY COLLECTION REVEAL WITH SWATCHES

Lunar Beauty Greek Goddess Holiday Collection Colour Palette Reveal
Manny MUA revealed his brand new holiday collection on Thursday over on his YouTube channel. His brand Lunar Beauty up until this point only had one product available to purchase, his Life's A Drag Palette. He is following the debut of his brand with five new products all available right now. The collection is called the Greek Goddess Collection with everything themed after Greek mythology, specifically the goddesses for the most part. Included in this collection is a Colour Palette ($48), essentially an eyeshadow palette with pressed pigments, a Greek Goddess Highlighter Palette ($40) and three lip products i.e. one lip gloss and two liquid lipsticks. Above you can see the packaging of the eyeshadow palette which comes in a seriously cool black component with a 3D Medusa head.

Inside the eyeshadow palette there are 15 eyeshadows, comprising of 8 matte eyeshadows and 7 shimmer shades, 2 satin, 2 pressed glitters and 3 are metallic. In total, there are 4 formulas in this palette which differs slightly from Life's A Drag which possessed 3 different eyeshadow formulas. Each eyeshadow is named after a Greek Goddess and I thought it would be cool to dive into what each goddess represents, as I have always found Greek mythology incredibly interesting and rich. Of course there are bound to be some disputes as to what is true and what isn't but truly this was all information taken from Google including the spellings of the names etc.

Lunar Beauty Greek Goddess Holiday Collection Colour Palette Swatches Eyeshadow
Onto the swatches: Hestia (goddess of hearth, architecture, domesticity, the family, the home and the state) is a light matte creamy white, Harmonia (goddess of harmony and concord) is a mustard orange matte, Selene (goddess of  the moon) is a copper red with intense reflective shimmer, Aphrodite (goddess of love, beauty and fertility) is a maroon matte shade with purple undertone, Hera (goddess of marriage and family) is a golden bronze shimmer, Circe (goddess of magic) is a reddish pink pressed glitter advised to be used with a glitter glue, Clio (goddess of history) is a soft petal pink mate, Iris (goddess of the rainbow) is a rose gold bright shimmer with a silver base, Nemesis (goddess of retribution) is a blue pressed glitter suspended in black, Rhea (goddess of fertility and motherhood) is a warm chocolate brown matte shade, Artemis (goddess of the wilderness, the hunt and wild animals) is an orange matte, Athena (goddess of wisdom and war) is a pale champagne shimmer, Persephone (goddess of spring) is a medium toned brown matte, Calliope (goddess of poetry) is a deep dark brown matte shade with a plum undertone and Calypso (goddess of seduction - technically she's not a goddess but this seems fitting) is a brown shimmer with a gold undertone. All of this information is derived from good old Google if it is incorrect I apologise, I hope you found it interesting because I sure as hell did. Greek mythology is cool af.

The next product that is also a palette is this Greek Goddess Highlight Palette ($40) designed similarly to the Colour Palette only with a white background to Medusa's fabulous head. This highlight palette contains 6 shades, the formula is described as creamy and Manny stresses that he wanted to create a palette that could be used on a diverse array of skin tones. The layout is similar to the ABH 6 pan glowkits such as Dream Glow Kit, but this palette does contain a mirror.

Onto the swatches, each shade here is named after a mythical creature and I will add that to the description as well in case you are interested: Harpy (is a half-human half-bird) is the only duochrome in this collection it is a duochrome peach-pink shift, Muse (goddesses of the science, literature and the arts, also daughters of Zeus and Mnemosyne the goddess of memory but there is some dispute about this so let's move on) is a light peach gold, Siren deep rose bronzish shimmer, Pheonix (mythical bird that is cyclically reborn) peach pink shimmer that can be used as a blush topper as well, Medusa (a monster, Gorgon, with wings and snakes for hair who can turn people to stone by looking at them) is a bright silverish yellow shimmer and Sphinx (another monster comprised of the head of a woman, body of a lioness, wings of an eagle and a tail with the head of a serpent) is a deep true gold.

Last but not least are 3 lip products including the Selene Lip Gloss ($17)Aphrodite Liquid Lipstick ($18) and Zaya Liquid Lipstick ($18). These are also available in a bundle, where you can get all 3 for $40. Manny stresses in his video that the lip products are limited edition and there are no plans for a restock. The packaging is certainly interesting and unique.

Zaya, of course, is named after Manny's dog. Selene is a light non-sticky gloss with gold reflective shimmer, Zaya is a nude terracotta comfort matte liquid lipstick and Aphrodite is a true bright red comfort matte liquid lupstick. Swatches can be seen below. The packaging is a gold gradient with gold overspray with a diamond-like object at the top. Manny explains he wanted a component with serious wow-factor and says it looks like a wand. The liquid lipstick packaging is limited edition as are the lip products in general, although I think there is a chance he will bring these shades back, just with his standard Lunar Beauty packaging. He has already revealed that he will have a full range of liquid lipsticks coming in 2019

Manny explains in detail in his video that the liquid lipsticks have more a silky velvet finish, they do not dry down completely and are not transfer/kiss-proof. He wanted to create a highly pigmented liquid lipstick that feels like nothing on the lips. His liquid lipstick applicator is shaped like a Barbie foot which enables precision lining for the cupid's bow and lip line, the lip gloss applicator is a standard applicator. To clarify the Greek Goddess Highlight Palette and Lip Products are all limited edition, The Colour Palette is permanent

Thank you for reading, at the moment these products are only available on the Lunar Beauty website. The Collection Bundle, with everything mentioned in this post is available for $112 and the Lip Bundle with all 3 lip products is available for $40. Personally, I think the collection looks intriguing, I like the packaging, the colour story of the Greek Goddess Palette doesn't immediately jump out at me and I am not a fan of highlight or lip products in general, so I am not persuaded to buy anything just yet. I think the packaging is beautiful and I appreciate a good theme, I will look at reviews and if this collection comes to Beauty Bay I will  keep an eye out. I would love to hear your thoughts on what you see hear, does anything strike you at all? If you have any personal feelings about Manny following the controversy that occurred this year feel free to share your thoughts and opinions below. Hope you are having a lovely week. Take care.

What are your thoughts on Lunar Beauty's 2018 Holiday Collection?

PART 3 | 30 QUESTION MAKEUP TAG

The last one is here, welcome to Part 3 of the 30 questions tag (found here). from The Beauty Section. You can read Part 1 here and Part 2 here. I hope you have enjoyed it so far, I am currently working on uploading my Berlin post and a holiday gift guide, but they are taking some time to edit and put together. Thank you so much for reading, hope you enjoy this last installment and please answer your favourite questions in the comments below.

Which celebrity always has great makeup? This is a good question I think Lilly Collins always looks amazing. That is probably more to do with her face than her makeup but I never think she looks too overdone or off at all. I always really like her makeup.

Do you belong to any online makeup communities? Not that I am aware of.

5 Favourite Beauty Gurus? A tough one, I have noticed lately that I have to be in specific moods to watch certain beauty gurus. Lately I have been feeling quite mellow and am not really into watching anyone who is high energy or especially vivacious. Manny MUA, Carly Bybel, Tati Westbrook and in particular Nicole Guerriero are all channels I can watch no matter my mood. They are all really chill and easy to watch. Angelica Nyquist is a big favourite of mine lately as well.

Do you like mutlifunctional products like lip and cheek stains? I think everything is multifunctional, I am not that enamoured with cream products in general but I love using powders all over my face i.e. blush and bronzer for eyeshadow and eyeshadow for blush/highlight or bronzer. Lipstick for eyeshadow or as liner etc. It's a lot more fun that way.

Are you clumsy putting makeup on? Absolutely, mascara inevitably gets all over my face and I am guaranteed to spill translucent powder all over myself and the floor. It's a skill.

Do you use a primer/base for your eyelids? Yes I do, at the very least I make sure to run my foundation over it, if I am definitely going to do something on my eyes that is more than just bronzer I will use concealer as a base. I just don't like the idea of eyeshadow on my bare skin and it doesn't look as nice or as pigmented.

How many hair products do you use on a typical day? If a hairbrush counts, then about two. I brush my hair and use my Aveda Invati Scalp Revitalizer and that is it.

What do you apply first concealer or foundation? Foundation always. Unless I am using a mineral foundation then I will apply concealer first.

What do you love about makeup? The aesthetics and the process, I like looking at makeup, swatching it, playing with it, trying out different looks and techniques. I do find it very therapeutic.

Thank you again for reading, hope you are having a great December so far. Please comment your favourite beauty gurus in the comments below I am always curious to see who people are loving to watch at the moment. Do you have different people you watch in different moods too? See you back here on Sunday where my posts will return to normal. I am still so tired from Berlin, I have such trouble sleeping especially in the company of other people. It's self-consciousness on crack, I swear. Follow my social media if you like and check out my YouTube. Take care.

What are some of your answers to these questions?

PART 2 | 30 QUESTION MAKEUP TAG

Welcome back, guys. Here is Part 2 of the 30 Question Beauty Tag that I found on The Beauty Section. I hope you liked Part 1 (read here). Let's jump right in.

Do you have a beauty budget or do you spend freely? I spend freely, if something catches my eye I tend to buy it, both because I will just keep thinking about it until I do and also because I feel like I can party justify purchases because of my blog.

Do you utilise coupons, reward cards and sales when you shop for cosmetics? Big fan of the 3 for 2 and other deals that you can find at Boots and Superdrug and try to keep a look at for any online sales. I pay attention on Black Friday to see if something I have been eyeing for a while is discounted which this year I did buy the Friendcation Palette on sale and also my favourite Anti-Dandruff Ginger Shampoo from The Body Shop which is a regular purchase for me.

What type of product do you buy the most of? Eyeshadow palettes undoubtedly followed by foundation.

Is there a brand that you absolutely can't stand? There are brands I don't personally support such as Jeffree Star Cosmetics and Kylie Cosmetics only because their products or their personality doesn't appeal to me on a certain level. I still report their launches because they are popular brands and I am not here to tell anyone how to feel. Revlon is another brand that I am not that interested in.

Do you avoid certain ingredients in cosmetics like parabens or sulfates? Sulfates in shampoos generally if I can, I don't have sensitive skin or allergies so I can usually get away with not paying too close attention but this is something I have been more attentive to recently especially fragrance or parfum which is found in a lot of products and is vague as fuck.

Do you have a favourite place to shop for makeup? I like online websites such as Cult Beauty and Beauty Bay, for stores Space NK, Debenhams and Selfridges have always been my go-to.

Do you like trying new skincare products or do you stick to a routine? I really like trying new products and I keep track of products I have used that have really impressed me as I will inevitably repurchase the products that have really helped my skin.

Favourite bath and body brand? Nip+Fab make some amazing bodycare products, their shower scrubs are actually fantastic. I also like Dove a lot.

If you could only buy from one brand which brand would you choose? For makeup this is especially hard but probably Makeup Revolution because they seriously just have everything you could need and their quality is continuously improving.

What brand do you think has the best packaging? Chantecaille has drool-worthy packaging with a price tag to match unfortunately.

What are some of your answers to these questions?
